According to scanner traffic, they're staying in GRR for use here and also in Holland. I think they've wrecked 1 or 2 in the last year or so, so they might be replacing those. I think there is currently 1 or 2 cabs in Holland, and 2 or 3 in Grand Rapids.
This actually brings up a good point....what is the current caboose situation in the western half of Michigan on CSX these days??
Around the midde of the last decade, the picture was something like this:
2 Wyoming 903101, 904151
1 Lansing Ensel 903109
1 Muskegon 904015
1 Ludington 903158
1 Benton Harbor 904034
1 Holland 903318
Since then, 904151 has been bad ordered (I think) at GR, 903109 came to GR, 904015 went to Holland, 903318 came to GR, 903158 was sold to MQT and repainted and is used in Ludington/Manistee. 903101 is still in GR and I don't know where 904034 ended up. Are there any corrections to this? Which cabs have been bad ordered/disposed of as of late?
I can confirm both 904016 and 904126 were in active service in Saginaw as of August 25, 2000. I also saw them each active there on August 21, 2002. Also in Saginaw at the time were a pair of Chessie wide-visions, retired, and as of 1999 one of the last former C&O center cupula ACF types, which was then donated to the Saginaw Valley RR Museum.
Is that CSX painted 904091 in regular service out of Grand Rapids now?
Not the best quality, but:
August 25, 2000 in Saginaw
August 21, 2002 in Saginaw
