14Q with a lease switcher

Unread post by slwapprslw »

While traveling home from Wauseon (OH), I noticed something interesting. I see 14Q is stopped near the milepost 322 signals. In the consist, LOCX 68 is trailing in tow. I quickly turn around to go back to CR 17 to get some pictures. While there, 14Q was waiting for 39E to pass CP 320. Once 39E was west of CP 320, 14Q proceeded eastward.

The switcher looks like an old Chicago Beltway SW1000

Its definitely ex BRC based on the paint scheme. It looks like an SW1500 to me, but not for certain.

1500's have 2 stacks, the one in the picture looks like it has one.

Comment from Winglet Photography on Flickr
Oh that's the old unit from Argo Corn Products...Chicago, IL. Wore BRC colors with Corn Products lettering.
Just like this: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=65378
BTW, the unit is a SW1000, not a SW1500.
