The Big Year: Foamer Edition
I was watching the big year and for those who haven't seen it, it is about birders who set out to see who can see the most birds in one year. This got me thinking... us foamers go nuts over rare power or RARE MILEAGE!!! Why doesn't Trains magazine sponsor a contest to see who is most likely to never get laid and be forever alone by who can see the greatest variety of power operating on the greatest variety of railroads in one year. Watching the movie it became clear that foamers and birders are alike except for what we chase. So do you have what it takes???

Re: The Big Year: Foamer Edition
Okay, here we go. Everything from 6/17/2012 on.
13 NS heritage units (and all 20 at Spencer). They are throughout my Flickr stream, and I'm not gonna take the time to post them all here.
A BCOL C40-8M
You can also see some CN Power in that shot, and NS.
A Warbonnet
(With some more NS units)
TFM and KCS
A whole lotta UP. I'm just give you guys an SD90 though.
(With even more NS power)
CSX
2 Espee AC44s
EMD Demos
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8508/8475 ... 6327be.jpg
(PRLX SD40T-2 in the background)
The beautiful EMDX 1201
Various locomotives from various railroads on the Alabama and Tennesee River RR
Southern 630
A Conrail SD50
Some CN Power at night
Florida East Coast
And the deadline in Waresboro, GA. In this pic alone I see GTW, DMIR, LTEX, CN, and SP
BNSF
The Loram Rail Grinder
Some Amtrak
Florida Central RR
Huntsville-Madison County RR
Georgia Northeastern RR
Blue Ridge Scenic RR
Nashville, Chattanooga, and St Louis RR
GATX
Great Smoky Mountains RR
KLWX/Gulf and Ohio
NCDOT
Lancaster and Chester RR
Carolina Piedmont RR
Greenville and Western RR
Pickens RR
Johnson Rail Services
Hartwell RR - 4 different paint schemes
454 - B&LE
3044 and 136 - Rio Grande and RF&P
And 4556 - CN&W
And that is every railroad I've seen over the past year.
So we have NS, CSX, CN, BNSF, UP, KCS, TFM, BCOL, ATSF, SP, CR, PRLX, EMDX, ATN, GWR, FEC, GTW, DMIR, LTEX, LORAM, AMTK, FCEN, HMCR, GNRR, BRSR, GSMR, NC&SL, GATX, SOU, KLWX, NCDOT, LC, CPDR,
GNWR, PHKP, JRWX, and HRT. Thats 37 Railroads. (41 depending on how you count the Hartwell RR). And all of that was between 6/17/2012 and now. And all with pics, so it happened.
I WIN.

Re: The Big Year: Foamer Edition
I think Legostudios34 wins based on his shortline count. Most of us can get the Class 1s pretty easily, but those southeast shortline aren't too easy to get to from way up here in Michigan...

Well I did hear something yesterday about licking acorns to get photos into Trains. I had no idea this was a contest they were having.
