Re: ns heritage units: who has seen them and who hasn't
Only 2 heritage units I've seen were the UP 1989 after it came to Flint on a rack train (barley saw it) and the UP 1983 on 280. No NS ones, but there's 3 I only care to see.
Re: ns heritage units: who has seen them and who hasn't
I'm up to 6 now....just saw the Central of Georgia unit at Porter about 25 minutes ago.
But unfortunately it went through when it was too dark for pictures.

The one yesterday caught me by surprise, but I usually check heritageunits.com and when one or more is coming to Elkhart I go down and see them.

Re: ns heritage units: who has seen them and who hasn't
I went and found teh central o' New Jersey unit at Wayne today. Felt like cheating cause I knew it would be there and all... Definitely not as cool as seeing it ok the road by chance would have been. And I don't feel like the drive or the hike through the brush was well worth it but hey it was an adventure and as long as I can see a train or two it's a good day

Caught the NS Heritage unit on a westbound oil train at Porter last Sunday. That makes 4 for me so far. NS, Penn Central, Virginian, and Southern. One in IN and MI, 2 in OH.

I am up to 7 now. I saw the NS 1071 (Central RR of New Jersey) around 11pm CDT, on 9/7/13... 3rd unit on 21Q.
I don't have any pics of it, but it did happen!
It was reported to have been spotted on the webcam, and railblazer witnessed it right next to me as well.

Well, today I went on a quest to see huritaj...and this one showed up and stopped for pics.
Actually I wanted to railfan this weekend but Lake Michigan covered us with clouds and scattered rain showers, and since it was clear today, I headed down to IN to see some trains in good light.(I totally forgot about the Circus Train until it was too late...and found out it had departed Elkhart around 4:30pm...I could have made it there on time. )
Anyways, not having been online since last night, I didn't know this heritage unit was coming, and caught it by dumb luck. And there was a train stopped at CP 448 ahead because of track work, and it was basically single main from CP 448 to CP 460 or wherever the next crossovers are, and the train with NS 1071 stopped short of Smilax Rd. and sat for about 15 min, allowing me to get some good pics.
I then went over to CP 448 when they left.
