The trade scenario floated was all the CR rebuilds for the SD80MAC's. It looks like just a transfer or pickup of the lease, I can't imagine NS giving up SD40-2's, especially 23 of them (the 3425-3447 former CR rebuilds) to get 12 SD80MAC's, that really wouldn't make sense on a power-short railroad. Stranger things have happened though.

Top matches the top of the TGC 3 it will be mated to. I highly doubt there was any serious consideration given to paint it in B&O colors.

You really think they would leave the top of it painted one way and just paint the rest correctly?

I agree, it was probably done like that to match the rest of the Geo Train, but that horse has already been beaten. I, for one, think it looks great...

The 2807 was repainted sometime in either June or July. I saw it late in July and all through the month of August on D743/D744. Also shot it a few mornings ago leading a Q356 through Berea.

It is completely plausible for this sort of thing to happen, as we only report them once sighted and confirmed. We found a unit earlier this year which was a repaint into YN3, so that one had obviously been done for over a year without a photo or otherwise to let us know. Yard engines are like this a lot, since they are not photographed a lot.

That said, we don't go back to change the record, since we could never get it right anyway and it would just jumble everything up. Thus, what is reported each month is really only what we found, but in general we can assume it was pretty recent, especially those shots from Cumberland and Waycross grounds.

Hot of the presses at NSDash9, news that it is indeed a trade! 23 NS SD40-2s, numbered 3425-3447 will be traded to CSX in exchange for the SD80MACs. Those SD40-2s are being routed to Chattanooga, while last reports had CSX sending the SD80MACs to Corbin.

Can not confirm, but sounds like these will go into the 8900-8922 series on CSX...but again that is not confirmed.
