Correct on Irons AARR.

A bit too far south AARR. I know this one, even have a photo from there(well, walked down that road on the left a bit). Reid Rd in Grand Blanc.
Got this photo from that spot in Grand Blanc: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=355888

Thanks ~Z~. Grand Blanc was my next guess but I would never get the road like you did :) .

Well while we wait for Michael to cough up a clue for the elevator location, try this spot.

These rails were laid in 1891 and at the peak of their service carried almost 2000 cars a day. The rails were still very busy up to 1995 when the traffic was moved to an improved route.

YES! Correct. You must be familiar with the area as there is not much to go on, or was my hint too revealing?
The "improved route" is simply to the left behind the weeds. I did gray out the tunnel portal in the first photo.

That'd be North Dixie Highway on the Fermi Nuclear Generating Station spur.

I believe it may have been taken out of service within the past couple years, though.
