Well I might have found Michael's red building. Here is one Google drove by in Roscommon in 2008.

Very impressive Pixl. I applaud your tenacity.Pixl wrote:Well I might have found Michael's red building. Here is one Google drove by in Roscommon in 2008.
It is the Roscommon Model Train Club http://roscommontrainclub.org/
Re: Where am I?
I doubt that's in Michigan-I don't think we have buildings like that in the background with the multiple chimneys here.Michael wrote:

That's the old AARR station in downtown Ann Arbor, which is now a preschool. I'll have to remember to make that the background (minus the caboose) next time I find a train on the AARR.

Well at least it is in the US, as there is an American flag out front on the pole.Burb8145 wrote:I doubt that's in Michigan-I don't think we have buildings like that in the background with the multiple chimneys here.Michael wrote:

Re: Where am I?
ok, not so far away, found it on Ashley St. in Ann Arbor. Former AA station, it is now a school of some sort.
The apartment building across the street with all the chimneys is very interesting too, but It looks fairly new with a historic design.

It's nice to see that the old train station got a second use.

Re: Where am I?
Hint: google street car turned around before going over the tracks so it'll show as a road that didn't get photoed beyond the railroad tracks. Peaceful looking area, only one nice southbound train per day to photograph

Zack, that looks a bit like the 9th St. crossing near Montieth.

What the heck, I'll post one. It's a little fuzzy though, it was taken on a cell phone, and severely cropped
Edit: if it's too small to see in the post, it's bigger in the gallery.
Admin edit: fixed the link to a bigger pic:

That scene looks quite different in the google pic from the shot I got there (of course, there's quite a bit of compression in my shot from using the long lens).~Z~ wrote:If Montieth is between Plainwell and Martin, then yes correct, 9th St it is on the Grand Elk.J T wrote:Zack, that looks a bit like the 9th St. crossing near Montieth.
