Looks like you had another good day, miline!
I haven't met Mr. Bentley but I'd guess that's who the familiar crew member isFirst in Wyandotte, Conrail Trenton 3 comes out of BASF on the Alkali Spur with a familiar crew member.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
Re: Downriver Detroit 5.11.15
Enjoyed your report and pics. Trenton 3 and Trenton 5? have the same loco, 5241. Don't get downriver much anymore, since I moved to northern Michigan. But I used to spend a lot of time at Wyandotte and Delray.
I first watched trains with my grandmother at the foot of West Grand Blvd in 1945! We used to watch the Pere Marquette streamliner coming into FSUD. I remember steam locos switching the boatyard. That used to be a busy line with a couple car ferries running 24/7, and heavy industry all along Fort street. There used to be a gate tower at West Grand Blvd.

I always enjoy how your reports don't just including what's hauling over the mainline, but lots of local and industrial work as well. Great shots on the Boat Yard Line (the old Detroit News warehouse will be demolished after the current lease runs out in 2017), of the NS high hoods in action and of the switchers at U.S. Steel. You also found one of my favorite locations to photograph at Delray in your shot of the CP SD40-2s passing the home signals south of the tower. Great report!
