Michigan Shortline Updates Feb 2016
Re: Michigan Shortline Updates Feb 2016
Around 4pm today I caught MS switching Bay Logistics on the northbound run. They must have had box cars on the rear because it looked like they were backing them in with the entire train. Never seen that before.

MMRR is switching Amway. I can only hear them, but it sounds like the 24.
Anything can be fixed with WD40 and ductape......... Right?

GRE must've had a decent amount of work in Lowell today, just going west through Ada now.

Mechanical must have fixed the power issue with the 24, which left it with more power going forward than reverse! According to a very well placed source, the ole 24 just couldn't pull the amps eastbound like it could returning to Fuller. Why that is/was, nobody knows/knew!Raildudes dad wrote:They took 22 east the other day but only had 2 this morning ready to go east about 10:30.SD80MAC wrote:GRE must've had a decent amount of work in Lowell today, just going west through Ada now.

Late Report:
Michigan Shore was on their way to Fremont around noon. MOW was working in N. Muskegon.
The odd thing that I saw driving through Muskegon today is that the switch for the Sappi branch appeared to be lined for that line. Haven't seen that in years. ??????

Some day I'll catch them running to Fremont. Any idea how often they head up there?EWRice wrote:Late Report:

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

Last fall, I saw them hold MOW equipment on the Sappi branch to allow for trains to pass through work limits while working in the henry street area. They also kept the equipment tied down on the branch periodically. I recall passing by and becoming irrationally excited when seeing the turnout lined for the branch.EWRice wrote: The odd thing that I saw driving through Muskegon today is that the switch for the Sappi branch appeared to be lined for that line. GRE --- EB Leonard at 9:10 with 4 CHs for King. Seems like a short train given how many cars were in their yard and on the interchange....

GDLK 302 headed south with 4125 and 4189 on point. Caught 'em at Kilgore and waiting for them at Portage Creek Bridge.

Lately I have no idea what the schedule is. Judging by the full train heading south out of North yard, and fresh tracks in the snow at Pontaluna Rd this morning, I would say they went to Holland. Normally that's a M-W-F run. Can anyone confirm this run today?J T wrote:Some day I'll catch them running to Fremont. Any idea how often they head up there?EWRice wrote:Late Report:

Curious that MS died. They left Muskegon around 0930. Must have run into issues or delays.

Sounded like they had a lot of switching moves to make in Waverly with long inbound and outbound trains, and they were dealing with Y121 who also needed room to work.EWRice wrote:Curious that MS died. They left Muskegon around 0930. Must have run into issues or delays.
