Where Is It?
Re: Where am I?
This photo is a few years old. Standing in this location now you can see more in the background.

You got it. You can see the new AMTRAK station from this location now.
Re: Where am I?
The older street view shows cars being stored on this line almost right up to the road.

I only know as I went by that spot trying to come up with a good "where is it", and had that in my files to try at a later time

Judging by the water tower, I'd say Anaheim Ca.

Not Kalamazoo, but it is on the east/west lines that go through Kalamazoo. Amtrak has been known to go by this spur.AARR wrote:No one's guessed so I'll try. Kalamazoo? If not please give a hint.

W. Railroad St., Dowagaic Mi.
Looks like the spur serves or did serve Michigan Precision Tool and Engineering.

Re: Where am I?
Here is another shot from the "rails in the weeds" series.
This spur runs about a mile off the main line and looks to not have seen a train in years. Must still be listed as in service as every crossing has lights or cross bucks and pavement markings. However I could not find it on any rail map, and does not show on the Google Earth rail layer. It looks to have served about 5 industrial business most look to be derelict now. You can see it from Google Earth with a sharp eye and can be verified with street view if you find it. Located in mid Michigan.

Re: Where am I?
Is this the old C&O Mt. Pleasant branch...or what's left of it?

Re: Where am I?
Sorry, not the C&O in Mt. Pleasant.
I think the line was originally built by Michigan Central RR.

Re: Where am I?
Well I cheated. It is Bay City. Or perhaps you meant to leave the address on the photo?
Very neat spot

Bay City. It appears to be connected to the LSRC line (ex-C&O), not the MC which was east of M-15.Pixl wrote:Sorry, not the C&O in Mt. Pleasant.

Re: Where am I?
Its in the south end of Bay City, former CSX now LSRC. This spur comes off the LSRC line near 33rd Street, crosses M-13 and goes west toward the river. It then headed south to McGraw Street where the last served customer, Quality Transparent Bag is located. Its seen very little service since the CSX left in 2005.

Yea I screwed up by forgetting to crop out that stuff. I caught it a bit later when AARR replied, went in and changed the photos but the link to photobucket didn't update for some time.Michael wrote:Well I cheated. It is Bay City. Or perhaps you meant to leave the address on the photo?
