I was going by this old map of the fire they had in 1892. The lower right corner shows the line as MCRR.BDG wrote:Bay City. It appears to be connected to the LSRC line (ex-C&O), not the MC which was east of M-15.Pixl wrote:Sorry, not the C&O in Mt. Pleasant.
I think the line was originally built by Michigan Central RR.

Another stretch of tired rails, these tracks are among the oldest in the state. This area has been discussed on this board in the past, so someone may recognize it.

A rail line used to pass this grain elevator. I don't know how long ago it was ripped out but I think I may know who owned if anyone needs hints.

I do recognize it. Batavia, West of Coldwater. I think the official abandonment a few years back covered this area but for whatever reason they left the tracks here.
I often wondered what that siding was for.

Michael you got it!
I don't know if it was NYC at some point. This is a section of the "old road" some of the earliest rr in Michigan.
The tracks continue SW about 2 miles beyond this point, and end just past the US-12 bridge barely visible in the distant photo.
I read of the state considering to remove the bridge, but apparently hasn't happened yet.

I remember reading that as well. As a side note, back in the 1950's when the US-12 bridge was new my wife's great grandfather stopped on that bridge to change a flat tire.
He had a heart attack and died right there.
