Where Is It?
Re: Where am I?
That would most likely be the Chris - Craft factory. I did not know they had their own railroad.

Re: Where am I?
Dave Cenci, SW, GLRF and a few others of us walked the abandoned ROW a year or two ago. In Marine City, where the old interchange was, there are still remnants of the railroads even though the steam operation disappeared in the 40's or 50's and the line was pulled up in the 80's.

Today they have moved to another city still in business, all that remains is the water tank.
Can you identify the business and/or the line?

You guys are all correct. According to Michael's article one of the Chris-Craft locos is in or around the Cadillac area. Has anybody see it or took a photo?Michael wrote:Interesting place Pixl

Re: Where am I?
That's the first time I've heard anything about Chris Craft requesting a spur be built or refused. Chris Craft purchased the old interurban line north of Algonac after the (DUR?) discontinued operation. Prior to that, apparently they had been serviced by the DUR in Algonac. Their segment of the DUR is still visible along much of its path, including on the west edge of M29 north of the Algonac State Park. Because the Chris Craft line was company owned, it wasn't a common carrier and only served the Chris Caft plant. When the Algonac operation was shut down (Chris Craft relocated the Algonac operation and possibly others to Florida) the railroad was abandoned south of the wye in Marine City, or so I've heard.Pixl wrote:This company in a East Michigan city was so busy in 1929 they needed rail service. Re: Where am I?
Chris Craft had at least one other plant in Michigan (Holland area?). The locomotive might be from there instead.Pixl wrote:You guys are all correct. The PH&D Railroad Historical Society has property at the north end of the line the Chris Craft line connected to, and might be worth a short visit...Pixl wrote:AARR wrote:Dave Cenci, SW, GLRF and a few others of us walked the abandoned ROW a year or two ago. Historic Algonac Interurban Railroad shows up during improvements on Michigan Street
That is an odd sounding title for an article. Sounds like a ghost train showed up. And the video no longer works. At least it did not for me.
I also found this on YouTube regarding the ATA locomotive being restored.
