Very cool. It looks like it was on or along Morenci Road/ Ohio 120 much of the way passing though a few town.Pixl wrote:You have the right town, but the wrong RR. The Toledo and Western RR was built West out of downtown Toledo as a interurban line, but to a higher standard so it could also haul freight. The line is mostly in Ohio, but turns up into Michigan just South of Morenci. See the green interurban line at the bottom edge of this map.

Tricky. It is a little north of Grand Rapids, Ohio in Waterville, Ohio. The old Interurban bridge.

Re: Where am I?
ROW to the left of the building. I have no idea if this building is railroad related. I could find nothing online so it is probably was a school and or church.
Although there was a Michigan Central depot in this hamlet (locality) and a branch line that went north from here as well.

Re: Where am I?
Thanks, I had fun with this one as I have never heard of this town or looked at the line. The compass and camera angle shows the road is N/S and the line is E/W with a little tilt to the South. So a look at old RR maps of a MC line running E/W with a branch line to the North, Mount Forest was a match. Zoom in with Google earth for conformation. I couldn't find anything on your mystery town as though it doesn't exist. The building has a plaque on the right side but I can't read it. Since there are no doors trackside I agree it probably wasn't a RR structure.Michael wrote:Impressive Pixl
Re: Where am I?
A USGS topographic map from 1967 shows the grade through Mount Forest and the branch heading north. The track was already dismantled by then.
Also it shows the building in question to be a church.

That stretch from mount forest to gladwin sure is straight for something built in the 1800's.

Doesn't look like a nice place of worship to me, but hey I suppose. Would be interesting to get a bit more on it. Nice map.Michael wrote:A USGS topographic map from 1967 shows the grade through Mount Forest and the branch heading north. The track was already dismantled by then.
