We'll be in Wauseon until early evening, then headed to Deshler Saturday night. If you want to meet the group and are only going to be around in the afternoon Saturday, I'd suggest you go to Wauseon first, then stopping by Deshler if that's where you'd rather be in the afternoon.CSXBOY wrote:And one more thing It will be better for me if you guys could come to deshler a bit early? Because I normally leave my dads house around 12:00 pm So I get there at around 1:00 pm. I dont like really like Wauseon for rail fanning because i hit at the bad times only 2 trains in 3 hours. But I love Deshler

Dang it, I just remembered I have something going on that weekend So I cannot make it oh well
Re: Railroadfan Spring Meet 2016 - Wauseon/Deshler OH 5/21-5
I will definitely be there for a couple days sometime between monday and Friday and possibly that sunday. Is the end of the week still busier than the beginning of the week, traffic volume wise??

Possibly able to go to Wauseon on Saturday, dunno about Deshler.
Also, for any of you planning to use ATCS, it looks like the nearest control points that are actually working/covered by servers are CP 327, which is 7 miles west of CP 320 Wauseon, and CP 295, which is 25 miles east of Wauseon. Of course if someone brings their own antenna set up the control point right there would probably work fine.
There is a HBD-DED defect detector right at CD 320.0, and a DED at 311.3. Control point nearby park is at CD 320.5.
From Google Earth imagery 10/2015, it looks like the old tri-lights are still standing, with the new signals in the dirt to the south of tracks. Don't think any cut over has happened yet.
Here is ATCS layout of area. Bottom left corner is Wauseon.

Reminder - meet is this weekend. Weather forecast was looking bad, but currently showing just a 20% chance of rain on saturday, partly cloudy day, and Sunday showing 0% rain with sunny skies, lower 70's for a high each day. Good overall weather for the meet; hope to see lots of you all out there!

I should be to Deshler by late afternoon on Friday. Will of course be swinging back up to Wauseon on Sat, before heading back to Deshler Sat night and staying until some undetermined time on Sun.
Hope to see many faces familiar and new

7. There are 7 skies.

Re: Railroadfan Spring Meet 2016 - Wauseon/Deshler OH 5/21-5
I was planning on heading down to Fostoria on Saturday and just saw this. I may have to make it over that way Saturday afternoon. Approximately, what time do people start heading towards Deshler?
Re: Railroadfan Spring Meet 2016 - Wauseon/Deshler OH 5/21-5
Usually around 5pm or so. Everyone gets hungry.
Last year I stayed later in Fostoria, and it was probably around 6:30pm when I caught up with tsinoms and Saturnalia at Galatea.
Everyone else was already at Deshler.

Enjoyed the meet and a thank you to all who came down. Weather could have been better for photography on saturday, but was good with the light winds and mild temps to just hang out and chat. Thanks to the regulars that made it down, and to the new faces as well. Had a good trip home.. got 5 different westbounds on CSX, shot 8 different locations. Headed up to NS and got another pair of westbounds before heading home.

If Pat had stuck to the plan, Jochs could've brought the box and the captain to Deshler, and gotten a jump on return, instead of waiting hours for roadside assistance in Wauseon...PAT.C wrote:I'LL BE IN MURPHY'S PLACE WITH A LITE AND FOOD FROM TIFFANY'S WATCHING TRAINS THRU THE FRONT WINDOW.

At least I wasn't alone. Big Frank's uncle and Jeff_L were there. (Neither one had jumper cables, either.)GreatLakesRailfan wrote:If Pat had stuck to the plan, Jochs could've brought the box and the captain to Deshler, and gotten a jump on return, instead of waiting hours for roadside assistance in Wauseon...PAT.C wrote:I'LL BE IN MURPHY'S PLACE WITH A LITE AND FOOD FROM TIFFANY'S WATCHING TRAINS THRU THE FRONT WINDOW.

Is it just me, or do most of Big Frank's uncle's stories end out with someone crapping themselves?
