GLC in Durand
How often does GLC come up the Holly Sub and into Durand Yard? I've never been able to catch them through Durand

Re: GLC in Durand
I've heard them in the daytime while working in Howell a few times the last few weeks. I don't hear it every day, so I suspect those may be extras that I am hearing while the normal run is back in the evenings.
Re: GLC in Durand
I'm there two to four times a month. The guys who
are there most, say that GLC runs south in the late
afternoon -- from 5 to 7 PM, with the return usually two
to four hours later... Oh - and just week days. From
time to time I do find GLC going south or coming north
between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm. Ya never know!
If you can set up atcs, you can watch Durand to get an
idea of the GLC traffic flow. Plan on the late afternoon to
early evening to see GLC action in Durand.

Re: GLC in Durand
My experience is mid morning or early evening. I've seen them going thru Howell around 10-10:30 in the morning and again after 5 or 6pm. I have seen them on weekends. In fact the derailment a few months ago north of Howell was on a Sunday morning, however I believe that to be more rare than the norm ( the weekend thing that is... )

Thanks everyone for the info.
Re: GLC in Durand
Mid mornings for south moves and afternoon/evening for north moves in my experience as well. Weekdays seem better than weekends and Sundays seems better than Saturdays. They don't seems to be daily - maybe every other day - but CAN run on consecutive days. I haven't been abl;e o nail a pattern in 8 months of trying.
My log showed best odds of GLC SB trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to noon with the return trip a couple hours later.
HESR is almost daily (weekdays) into Durand in the mid afternoon with the outbound train a couple hours later.
Hope that helps.

You know that little voice in your head? My wife says I lack that.

Re: GLC in Durand
I have caught GLC going north through Durand early on a Saturday afternoon in the past. Grain trains tend to be on the weekends. I have caught one in Howell going south on a Sunday evening.
They had a tendency to run Owosso to Osmer in the afternoon/evening but can run wherever, whenever depending on priority of cars that need to move and engine availability.

Is this the new diamond recently installed, and if so is this the fast side or slow side being used?CSXBOY wrote:The last time I was in Durand (6-16-16) I caught a NB GLC Grain train https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q1so717BZg

Re: GLC in Durand
The north/south Holly Sub (that the GLC train in the video is using) is the slow speed side of the "One Way Low Speed" (OWLS) diamond installed a few years ago.Pixl wrote:Is this the new diamond recently installed, and if so is this the fast side or slow side being used?CSXBOY wrote:The last time I was in Durand (6-16-16) I caught a NB GLC Grain train https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q1so717BZg
