Re: Where Is It?
It is Delray. Back when there was more vegetation. The train was an N&W 3 car local headed for the Boat Line, at the time a passenger mainline to Fort Street Union Station.

Yes, it's Delray, looking southwest in Detroit, Detroit City School district, Wayne County. That N&W 3 local or yard job was crossing the former MC/LS&MS lines to the NS Boat Yard on Detroit River, from Oakwood Yard, Melvindale. The street in the background where the 1950 built railroad crossing gates was located is Dearborn Avenue.

Re: Where Is It?
That's the lead into the old Detroit Free Press Riverfront printing plant, formerly at the foot of Rosa Parks Blvd. in Detroit. Looking compass south across the Detroit River to Windsor. Here's a photo of mine from the river of the same location, when an NS local was switching the plant. This operation ended ca. 2006, the plant was demolished a year or two later, and now it's part of the Detroit Riverfront West. There was a switch lantern on the derail into the plant that disappeared shortly after the plant closed. Great photo!

Yes, that was the lead in to the now demolished Detroit Free Press Riverfront printing plant, at the foot of Rosa Parks Blvd. in Detroit, Detroit City Schools district, Wayne County. Its now the West Riverfront Park at that same location, across the Detroit River from Windsor, ON, Canada. The old plant was served by an NS local based out of either the NS Boat Yard or Oakwood Yard.GP30M4216 wrote:That's the lead into the old Detroit Free Press Riverfront printing plant, formerly at the foot of Rosa Parks Blvd. in Detroit. Re: Where Is It?
Can't be (although it's kinda obvious now). Port Huron has rocks between the track and the river, rather than the guardrail. Interesting to see track that close to the water somewhere else though.ConrailDetroit wrote:Correct. Some may have guessed Port Huron.

Re: Where Is It?
Dearborn st behind the photographer, Carbon st to the right and the driveway to St, Marys cement to the left. Am I close ? Just went by there on my way to Dearborn Sausage for some ham. The rail is still there.

Re: Where Is It?
Correct. This is looking the other way. The track in the background is what remains and is still in use of the mystery track.
