Reluctantly, no updates on the crane. The "signal thang" has robbed time away from the wrecker.
I have been asked to set up and run the train again for a short 5 hour event October 10, 2017 in the same location
it operated last Christmas. So there is that bit of news to report.
Thank you for asking M.D.

Pretty cool! What is powering that CN engine. Sounds like some kind of small gasoline engine?

Hi hoborich;
The CN engine you're referring to seen in the video at the URL posted earlier in the thread is a locomotive owned by The Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso.
It is not the train referred to in the conversation between M.D. Bentley and myself.
The crane and train M.D. and I are referencing is this one: http://www.pbase.com/visual_first/image/130611497/large
To answer your question about the Canadian National locomotive, it's powered by some form of gasoline engine.
I don't know what type nor do I know who originally built the piece of equipment.
Noting you are in Northern Michigan, you may be interested to learn it's believed the CN engine originally belonged to Bill Fitt, the founder of Live Steam Magazine.
The locomotive operated on his railroad near Meauwataka, Michigan in the late '80s and 1990s.

Hey, thanks for the info. I could hear some kind of small gas engine when the CN loco went by.
