Looks like they picked up an ex-CN GP9R
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
Re: Laharpe Shops
That's 4101, it spent many years in the deadline awaiting shop attention. She got all new power assemblies, and various other work. She's a good runner, if known for not playing well with the GP20s (4101 has a more modern load regulator, and loads faster).AARR wrote:Looks like they picked up an ex-CN GP9R
The 2 switchers were being brought back to the shop after taking a train down to Keokuk with 2018 the previous Tuesday. The other 4 GPs had to dig out cars on the Lomax line, so the switchers got assigned to help 2018 and 2032 on the Keokuk locals for a few days. They and 2018 came up the hill DIT.jrgerber wrote:Six units on the KJ in this video, are some of these units headed elsewhere especially the SW units?
Apparently I work on GEs now...
Re: Laharpe Shops
Thanks Bulby , one of the SW units look like the one that was assigned to the Napoleon Defiance and Western.
Re: Laharpe Shops
The one that had been assigned to the ND&W was 107, now assigned to Mississippi Central.jrgerber wrote:Thanks Bulby , one of the SW units look like the one that was assigned to the Napoleon Defiance and Western.

Re: Laharpe Shops
Thanks, it will be interesting to see what happens to the Miss Central (the original line) and Alabama RR which I believe are both being used for car storage, not much in the way of on line customers. They may be going the way of the portion of the old Alabama and Florida.
Re: Laharpe Shops
List updated to reflect recent changes in the deadline. Wiki page will be updated when I feel like it.Bulby wrote:Right now at Laharpe is the following units (all O.O.S.):

KJRY 471 (GP8): stored in the shop awaiting wiring work, getting attention as time allows
PREX 1298 (SW1200RS): lettered as CS01, Stored dead in the shop due to missing windows.
PREX 1352 (SW1200RS): stored dead with bad main generator and traction motors

Re: Laharpe Shops
Nice photo in Train's December 2017 issue on page 19 showing SW1500 PREX 1500 with a new paint job done at the Kolbe IL shop. How many shops for locomotive repairs does Pioneer have?
Re: Laharpe Shops
Really just Laharpe. Some Pioneer Railroads have engine houses but no real shops.jrgerber wrote:Nice photo in Train's December 2017 issue on page 19 showing SW1500 PREX 1500 with a new paint job done at the Kolbe IL shop. How many shops for locomotive repairs does Pioneer have?

Re: Laharpe Shops
Wonder what the power will be on the new Elkhart and Western former Monon 9.5 mile branch near Monticello IN?
Re: Laharpe Shops
Unless plans change (again); power will be the formerly ALAB assigned 2026 and 3001.jrgerber wrote:Wonder what the power will be on the new Elkhart and Western former Monon 9.5 mile branch near Monticello IN?

Re: Laharpe Shops
Hearing PREX 907 might soon be leaving the Michigan Southern, any idea what might be replacing it?

Re: Laharpe Shops
It went down south some where but can't remember the location.
Re: Laharpe Shops
It's on Mississippi Central, I believe it's on the Grand Junction end.Super Chief wrote:After 908 came off the Western Michigan any idea where it went?
