Re: New to town
Another UP hand-me-down for the CN. GDLK picking up a GE would make no sense. Their people and what few spare parts they have are EMD. A recent Trains magazine spoke about Watco picking up more SD40-2's

Re: New to town
The unit was sent back to GE and now carries a GE reporting mark. Its UP number was 9366. I can’t recall what its current number is.
Edit: posted incorrect UP number, got the digits backwards.

LOL that's the worst engine CN could ever assign to Kzoo, except maybe a C40-8M!

At least when it breaks down, it won't be blocking the mainline

Can I ask why that is? Is the the weight of the engine?SD80MAC wrote:LOL that's the worst engine CN could ever assign to Kzoo, except maybe a C40-8M!
I can recall a couple years ago, CN ran a ballast train up the Kalamazoo line with an SD70M-2 and an SD75I, and sometime in the last year there was a BNSF GEVO working in Kilgore Yard. It wasn't assigned there permanently but someone said it was a transfer from BC to Kilgore or something.

Quick update:
the ex-UP engine is gone. CN 5601 is now the power for the Kalamazoo job.
