The grinder is working at Trowbridge at 23:15
If anyone's awake at this hour, what frequency are they talking on?
I presume either 160.23 or whatever the MOW frequency is.

Update: seem to be communicating on 160.23
Do you know where they have gotten to over night?

My guess would be Plymouth. Sometimes they will stop at one point and then just drive ahead to a yard and then the next work day will go backwards a bit to start grinding again.

Micah & amessmann Inquire: Update: seem to be communicating on 160.23 Do you know where the rail grinder has gotten to over night? [/quote]

BL2-1843 Says: Sure do. The main grinder worked their way into Howell grinding at 02:00 and woke me up. Fine by me as its ten fold more exciting to see them grind under the cover of darkness rather in daylight which I have a number of times in my 50 years here. Switch grinder came by at 03:03. Both units tied up in Howell for the night. Sounds as if the main grinder is in the GLC transfer track at Lucy Road and the switch grinder is in the passing siding across from it. Crew has track time in the siding thru 17:00 this afternoon. Grinder crews totally cleared off the main line at 03:32.

Can hear D706 coming off in the distance on the scanner as of 10:12 am.

EDiT: Not sure what the issue is but the RN told D706 to find a place to park between where you are at (Fowlerville) and Brighton as you cant go by Brighton "with those cars" so they are stopped at MP 58 east of Fowlerville.

If I had to guess, as of 03:45 it would be somewhere between Fowlerville and Howell. I can clearly hear into Howell usually, and I could make out some of what they were saying, but I didn't hear a milepost. Radio communications seemed to end after 03:45 so I went to bed.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, just my guess - BL2 has more accurate info in the post below mine.

I wonder if this involves the "dangerous cars" that I thought were set out in Brighton a week ago, maybe D706 is dropping cars off in Brighton siding again and the bad cars are in the way? The siding hasn't seen action since then.

D70625, in the process of tieing down its train east of Fowlerille, RN informs them they are on a dead end crossing and a person cant get across to get to a doctors appointment. They inform him after taking off the already set brakes, they will will walk back the 7000 feet to cut the crossing. Later thought was to pull the train ahead to get off the crossing, cut the train apart at the DPU so the conductor can ride it, and take it to Highlander Way west of Howell. Evidently and apparently they have a ton of GLC cars that needs to be set off at Brighton on their way east, or else something else is going on east of Brighton. They would easily have had enough time to get to Silver Lake crossing at Green Oak if they were going to die there. Either way, its another pure mess for this train.

D702-25 may be running with only CSX engine #2742, a GP38-2 having 4 axles, since his counterpart, the CSX #2652 had gone west this morning on Q327-25. Both of these engines did run on last night's D700-24.

I should mention I was just sent a video of 3211 sitting just West of S Highlander Way in Howell.
Whether or not it's just 3211 and its half of D706's consist, or the full train, I'm not sure.

Anyone know what the rail grinders are up to?

Q326-25 @ 1:50pm had advised Rouge their DPU rear CSX engine #3300 "is junk, with no working air compressor" and they'll have to spin the engines so that tomorrow's Q327-26 will have CSX engine #3411 leading it. Also, they had stated the #3300 cannot be used as a DPU.

D90625, with recrew on board moving east towards Brighton and by Howell at 2:15pm. All 78 cars ahead of the DPU, that were brought to Highlander Way by D705s crew are all for GLC. Crew will put the units together again in Brighton after putting the GLC cars in the Brighton pass and head back west towards east of Fowlerville where the rest of their train is and then proceed back east again.

D906 "Slow Clear, EE Brighton" at 15:02 - probably the dwarf signal coming off the siding.

Any update on D906 or the railgrinders?
