One can make a mistake and own up to it, but still feel guilty.

...According to Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) spokesperson Mary Dettloff, the fire started alongside the railroad tracks next to AJD Forest Products on Four Mile Road southeast of Grayling.
Dettloff would not comment on whether sparks from trains may have been responsible for igniting the fire, which destroyed 1,345 acres of forest.
...“People should still be vigilant,” Dettloff said of the fire danger across the state despite recent precipitation and cooler temperatures. “The fire danger can change in a matter of a few days. People need to exercise caution with outdoor burning this time of the year and still need to call or go online to obtain burn permits.”

Im willing to bet from the reports and contacts that I have that this fire was started by people burning trash without a permit. Any excuse to not blame themselfs, have herd it all the time that it couldent been our fire that started that. Dry ground cover, outdoor burning, with a strong south wind = More business for me!
