I am looking to model the 2 MMRR Ugly Duckling GP9's in HO Scale...
I am unsure of what models to start with... Any advice

Very difficult units to model. You’re going to need a Phase III GP9 to start with. I would recommend getting a Walthers Mainline low nose GP9 cab to start with for the cab. A high nose chopped down will make the nose. The distinctive Canadian handrails can either be bent out of brass wire, or you might be able to use the Athearn Genesis CN/GTW GP9 handrails.
