With this change, it is effectively undone! Only real difference left is the symbol, which changes some of how it is reported and who in the company "owns" the train in terms of budgeting and things, but that's about it.
BL2 says, the only difference between running D705 and D706 every other day six days a week, over soon running every day both ways seven days a week, is that instead of having the same two locomotives running back and fourth every other day for four months in a row, you will now have the same FOUR units running back and forth for four months in a row EVERY DAY. Good news for crews perhaps, but what a bore to see day in and day out.

Can't wait for the day when they decide to run a train to Toledo again. I think this system probably works better but it'll be one of those "everything that is old is new again" situations lol

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March 2021
Amtrak P371-05 @ 06:36am westward reported by the DD mp CG19.1 with 18 axles (+2 count error) & 309 ft long. IDTX engine #4631 & 3 SuperLiner cars.
Ever since the #4631 was returned from being repaired, the DD's are detecting 1 to 2 extra axles. There's something metallic (a hose connector as a hose is bouncing up & down, something newly added - but what?) that's "tricking" the HBD's magnetic transducers & is sensing it to be a wheel flange.
You'll notice too, the HBD will read extra axles, as with this morning's "westward" Amtrak having 2 extra axles, but, that same HBD won't read extra axles when the #4631 returns "eastward".
The magnetic transducers that sense the wheel flanges are usually installed onto the same rail inside the gage. Which rail is used is just a matter of convenience for the installation work at each DD site (btw, I have 26 years of "hands on" railroad experience with various models of HBD equipment & have come across strange situations LOL).

It also changes the rate at which crews are paid. D-jobs, being local, pay less than Q-jobs.Saturnalia wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 3:06 pmWith this change, it is effectively undone!
