Old V New
CSX ES44AH #941 and CSX GP40-2 #6070 trail behind a CSX SD70MACe on a 14 car long CSX Q214-27 in Plymouth. This picture struck me, Old V New, 6070 was a chessie system GP40-2, built in 1967. CSX 941 was built for CSX & delivered in 2008. The only thing that's similar is the YN3 paint job, and all similarities end there. Thought this was cool to bring up...

Re: Old V New
That's interesting, seeing as the Dash 2 line wasn't introduced until 1972...

Re: Old V New
No, CSX never rebuilt any straight GP40s to Dash 2 specs like they did SD40s. The 6070 was built in November 1972 as C&O 4170.

Because it was built as a GP40-2 in November 1972.

RRPA is the harbor of a lot of locomotive history misinformation. It's a good starting point but always worth trying to confirm it through multiple sources at least

For awhile they were a bit questionable but they've really upped their game over the last couple years with new, extremely knowledgeable contributors.Ypsi wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 12:38 amhttps://www.thedieselshop.us/
Best source for build dates and rosters past and present IMO
