Kentucky Question
Hello everyone, me and my family are going to Kentucky this summer for a vacation. We are going to try to get some tickets for the Kentucky Railway Museum excursion train but other than that I am not very aware of good spots for train watching. Does anyone have more knowledge on this? If so, what are the best locations to go (with the most trains) and what are the main lines that run through there? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Got to go, I hear a train coming...

Re: Kentucky Question
Go to Kentucky High Bridge, on the NS Rathole.
Also LaGrange, which has CSX street running for five blocks.
Also Lambs Ferry Tunnel in Ryland Heights, near Covington and Cincinnati
Also Covington Tunnel, on the south end of Covington, near where routes 16 and 17 split.
Latonia, just south of Covington, has a train museum with several static displays.

Re: Kentucky Question
Minor correction it’s basically 2-2.5 blocks of street running. 10mph headend speed restriction then 25 to clear. The tracks follow main south but are not in the street for the stretch down there.trainjunkie47 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 10:11 pmAlso LaGrange, which has CSX street running for five blocks.

Re: Kentucky Question
Bowling Green has the Historic Rail Park and Louisville and Nashville depot and museum. They have an L&N passenger train and E-8 loco, which I rode home on leave from Biloxi, Mississippi several times back in the 60s, along with static displays and an HO train layout. They also have both guided and self guided tours of the passenger train and museum. Check the website for days and hours during the Covid situation.
