You nailed the Burrwood Industries location TC Man!
I show that there was another customer, Traverse City Structural Steel, in the same area but I don't have its exact location and can't confirm if its the other building SD80 is asking about.

TC Man wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 5:46 pmIt was Burwood Industries. They made clocks. LOTS of clocks. Received 2-4 hoppers of plastic pellets per month into the TSBY days.AARR wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 4:50 pmBuilding at Airport Access and Parson's used to receive plastic pellets. Burr Clocks or something like that IIRC. I'll look up my notes when I get home.
IDK about the former use of the Career Tech Center. I'll check my notes for that too.SD80MAC wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 4:27 pmOn the subject of Traverse City, does anyone know what business the large building at the corner of Parsons Rd and Airport Access Rd? There was a spur that went north from the PM main across Parsons, the TART is even still marked for where the spur crossed. There was also a spur that went into what is now the Career Tech Center. What was that?
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

The Tech Center was something related to Helicopters or Aircraft, from what I've heard.
Consistently confused
Re: Great Lakes Central Updates July 2021
You are probably thinking Traverse City Gray Iron just to the west that closed in the 80's. They received inbound rolls of steel. See my post above about this spur (of which about 400' is still in place and GLC is using currently to stage MOW equipment for the current Williamsburg branch rehab). Which also surprises me that nobody found that of interest, LOL. The Traverse City Airport Industrial Park now occupies the former Gray Iron property (and much more property). I assume this transload facility would cater to businesses within the park (if it's being built).AARR wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 6:25 pmYou nailed the Burrwood Industries location TC Man!

I think that was the "Parsons plant" that made helicopter blades.KingsleyRailFan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 7:20 pmThe Tech Center was something related to Helicopters or Aircraft, from what I've heard.

Z624-08 working the interchange with CSX at Howell/Ann Pere at 01:40. 384 and 329 leaving 28 cars and picking up 26.
Re: Great Lakes Central Updates July 2021
The current TBA Career Tech center was acquired around 1976 when the Parsons Corporation sold the plant. The plant made 22' Sikorsky R-5 helicopter blades. The founder passed away in 2007. TBA more than doubled the size of the building since they took over.Pixl wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 5:24 pmI think that was the "Parsons plant" that made helicopter blades.KingsleyRailFan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 7:20 pmThe Tech Center was something related to Helicopters or Aircraft, from what I've heard.
