There is a ballast train running from Dearborn to Wayne today. 518 was on the head
OK LansingRailFan, how much more AMTK "Ballast Trains" will be out running? Is there a schedule for these guys? Any other info? Would like to catch!!!!!!
Amtrak #300 and #301 ALC-42's passed the Chesterton webcam at 10:30 am. Will be testing the AMl this week.
GTW, where can these be seen in the next few weeks? Where in Indiana are they stored? Accessible? My goal is to at least see a 50th Anniversary" engine this year!!!! I hope they come by Chesterton again! Is there any way to know? Now, in early December "Mazon" and I are going to this Riley's Railhouse "Bed and Breakfast" place in Chesterton, Indiana catching lots of trains (and AMTK): https://www.rileysrailhouse.com/Accommodations.html

08:35 CT: Amtrak 350 arriving at Michigan City. They got stabbed at CP 482 by a westbound freight, so they’re now running about 8 minutes late.
Is the old MC depot still standing? I’ve read multiple things that a new condo tower is planned for that site and if no one wants to move the depot building it will be demoed. Apparently the pandemic hasn’t killed this moronic plan.
how many cars on each Wolverine these days? Any Amfleet 2s? will be interested to learn if any consists expanded next week for Thanksgiving
Andy
Every train sees 5 cars unless it’s a holiday, however on trains 350 and 355 you’ll see a baggage car since apparently Amtrak needs it not just for the axle count but they actually use it

What for? There's no checked baggage, so... Do they have that many bicycles? Or is it used to move company materials?

I’ve seen them put baggage in them before on the Wolverine trains, it maybe something else but that’s what I recall

I've never seen anything to suggest that the baggage on the Wolverine is anything except for axle count over CN.
I take his statement to mean never in the Viewliner Baggage Cars.
IIRC, they have used them for a special group or two.
Too bad all the Viewliners aren't being used. Can't get a refund on them.
"These cars" talking about the Viewliners II axel count cars. Yes they have done baggage car service in the past.. Almost 20+ years ago at this point. No they are not Currently operating baggage service. Didn't expect to see a thread talking about when they last removed bags from the service from 2012 today... I guess I live too much in the present. Back your regularly scheduled Amtrak programing.

Perhaps Ypsi or somebody else from over there can answer, but is there a project or work zone that's frequently causing trains to lose a dozen or so minutes between Dearborn and Ann Arbor?
