CGT are the mile posts inside of the Grand Rapids Terminal, CH are the mile posts on the Plymouth sub-division and CG are for the mile posts on the Grand Rapids sub-division. Letter codes are needed because mile post numbers can replicate on the different subs.lighthouse wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:52 amDumb question time again Tom what does CGT 2.0 mean and is that at the throat of the yard on the east side of the yard … I know there’s a small creek on that side of the yard but there’s also a lot of water on the other end of the yard as wellTom49801 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:26 amQ327-20 @ 10:23 westward reported by the DD mp CG91.9 with 584 axles & 8,044 feet long. D706-20 @ 10:35 Grand Rapids job briefing with the RN Dispatcher: CSX engines #5220 + #5452 & 30 cars (21 loads + 9 empties). He has work at Lansing: 2 set offs and "a large pickup" - maybe Rouge wasn't kidding earlier when he had told them they have 100 cars to pickup. He's on the move eastward reporting from Plaster Creek mp CGT 2.0 @ 10:38
I've never actually seen these locations in person, I'm over 700 miles away in Maryland & I reference the locations from a 2008 CSX Time Table.

CGT 2.0 is Plaster Creek, the east end of Wyoming Yard. In regards to the Hamilton Branch, CSX ownership ends at MP 19.5.lighthouse wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:52 amDumb question time again Tom what does CGT 2.0 mean and is that at the throat of the yard on the east side of the yard … I know there’s a small creek on that side of the yard but there’s also a lot of water on the other end of the yard as well …. Here's my take on Q326 from yesterday (1/19/22) with ST70AH 8906 leading, crossing Buck Creek in Grandville:

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - January 2022
One of the two engines from the grain train spotted at Webberville the other night is at Ensel. The crew didn't have a cab and had to take an engine back to the yard office to go home.
RN was talking to D706 that the crew pulling the grain train out of Webberville is OD at 15:30. They will go engine light from Ensel to Webberville and hookup with the other loco and then start to build their train. RN also mentioned that D705 was OD at 14:00 out of Rougemere and that there is another inbound grain empty arriving in Plymouth sometime in the next several hours. I don't remember symbols or unit numbers as I was driving while all of this was going on.

That just sounds like bad planning on CSX's end. Although, I will say that taking a train is much better than a car.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 3:05 pmOne of the two engines from the grain train spotted at Webberville the other night is at Ensel. Re: CSX Train Location Updates - January 2022
Instant Replay of yesterday, D708 left cars parked on the main for GLC, picked up cars from GLC in the Howell pass and took them to Brighton to run around it. D706 arrived in Howell at 4:45pm and is currently taking his 94 car train through the pass around the cars on the main. South Lyon boys will have to get a for sure car count. Engines for the Webberville grain train, G763-19 will have to clear up in the plant for quite some time to wait for D708 and possibly D705 to get by first.
Re: CSX Train Location Updates - January 2022
Gonna have to leave the car count to Sparrow, the rest of us are out. I assume that the power on D706 is the usual pair of ES40DCs?BL2-1843 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 4:58 pmInstant Replay of yesterday, D708 left cars parked on the main for GLC, picked up cars from GLC in the Howell pass and took them to Brighton to run around it. Re: CSX Train Location Updates - January 2022
Was stuck in the office too late today to catch the DD for D706.
Sounds like D706 and D705 met in South Lyon. D705 is westbound out of the siding at 17:57.
For D705, the Green Oak DD at CH39.1 said 180 axles, 2666 feet. 42 cars.
