CSX Train Location Updates - June 2022

L303-04 on the move past Pleasant St. #717 chugging away mid train. Hope they get up the hill okay east of Fox!

L303-04 @ 13:13 Grand Rapids, Mi job briefing with the RN Dispatcher: CSX engines #3138 + mid dpu #717 (58 deep in the train) & 120 cars (65 loads + 55 empties) @ 10,439 tons & 6,547 feet long. He’s doubling up his train & will have work in Lansing. These engines had arrived on the very late Q326-03 with the #717 as a rear DPU. CSX engines #461 + #66 that would have been on today's L303 were by this morning’s M327-04 (formally known as Q327).

What is the tonnage strength for each individual engine? Since we knew CSX #69 has a tonnage strength of 7,850 tons.

The tonnage rating for each engine isn't mentioned during the crew's job briefing. Yesterday's CSX engine #69 tonnage rating was mentioned only because they were trying to determine how many cars he would be able to handle & to know how many cars had to be set off since the CSX #69 would be the only working engine of the two engines.
A Google search can be made to find out what each engine's model number is & then another search for the technical specs for the overall horse power & Kilo-watts rating for the electric traction motors. However, last month it was learned, due to a few stall outs that had happened on the Saugatuck Hill mp CG32.5 on the Grand Rapids sub-division, the railroad also has terrain factored in for the routes the trains will be following and de-rates an engine's stated horsepower based on the grades` percentages.

L303-04 @ 16:23 eastward reported by the DD mp CH104.3 Mulliken, Mi with 492 axles & 6,549 feet long. CSX engine #3138 + mid dpu CSX engine #717 (58 deep) & 120 cars. He has 8 cars to set off in track L05 in Lansing, no mention was made for any cars to be picked up.

He'll have to stop at Grand ledge mp CH99.1 to line the switch at the west end back to its Normal position that had been left in Reverse during last night's L302-03 & L303-03 meet there.

Will be interesting to see what engines L302-04 will have today since yesterday's L303 had CSX #69 leading & his trailing engine CSX #4008 had died.

Q326-03 (the last of the "Q trains") @ 07:16 eastward reported from Grandville mp CG6.0

326 must have really hustled out of the siding in Hudsonville after 327 passed him and then hauled arse to clear Grandville just 6 minutes after 327 cleared the 19 detector.

Green Oak DD at CH39.1 said 574 axles, 7895 feet.

Approx 21:15 - L303-04 east through South Lyon.

M326 was annulled in Chicago due to no available power. Either M327 or L303 in GR today (6/5) will be annulled as a result.
