At 01:40 Rouge had said not the best train to have DP power especially since L302 was short on time. He also had told L302 to peel that 1 engine off & let someone else worry about the other. Don't know if he had a mid or rear DPU nor what it's number is. Will know today when L303 performs his job briefing.

I was surprised they ran the extra power up front like they did the other day. That caused the two couplers to break on the trip up the East Saugatuck hill.

It’s CSX they don’t care. They’d probably have to dump the train first before they’d go back to the way they used to do it with extra helper power on the rear

That was a comment (opinion) the engineer had made. CSX had made a change to their operating policy a few months ago where the 2 CSX engines are placed behind the leading engine. It used to be, the coal trains arrived with 2 engines on the front & the 2 pushers were added to the rear of the train. Someone had explained to me by adding the 2 extra engines to the front behind the leader, the crew doesn't have to be bothered with going to the rear of the train to re-program the DPU, which, they would have to do if a different engine were placed on the rear as a dpu (like the way they used to do it).

L303 @ 16:18 heard talking with Rouge Tower with the CSXT #988 (mystery now solved for what last night's L302 2nd engine was & was running as a dpu but not known if it was a mid or rear) & also has the CSXT #3102. No job briefing has been made yet.
