Double stacked SB passing MP 22.5 on the Holly at 4:10 pm with two CN 5600's as power. I presume 508 as there has been no mention of a 116 anywhere on the Flint Sub today from the reports I have seen. Long train.

And passing the container train on Main 2 is the returning NB 515 with 5450 running in reverse at 60 mph.

That is 116, CN 5606 and 5612. Saw a Facebook post from the Michigan Railfans group.

6. Eastbound canadain national mixed freight train through east Lansing at 10:35 am with a gevo, m-2 and an offline dash 8 that is being preserved somewhere in Michigan. Cannot say who bought it or where it's going. Confidential stuff

Well cool!!!! Here is some good news for an old Dash 8!!!!! Confidential CSXBOY, but did you see what kind of engine? Was it a "COWL?" We need one of those preserved! Would S.R.I. capture this? Maybe a new display at Lapeer, Imlay City or Port Huron PH&D? M.T.M. does not have the cash! Maybe CN is donating one!!!!

Just a regular dash 8. 2159.

Well, if it is just a "Regular Dash 8" then there isn't a reason the preserve it! Right? CN C40-8W 2159 is still a nice ex ATSF "Warbonnet" engine! Sure it looked better in Silver/Red! Maybe this weekend I'll venture down to Walbridge, Ohio (with 'Railfan' Rick McConber) to see all these CN Dash 8s one final time!!!!

I'm not allowed to say who bought it or where it's going. But I can assure you it's getting preserved somewhere. Wait and see for more details.

But, could you help say where this train is? Will this loco head through Emmett? I can send the friend (Roger) to photograph for me! Hope it is a "COWL!!!!" Where will it be?

At around 1:30 am, Train 513 came back NB from doing its work on the south Holly. It was blowing its horn at Opdyke like it was going 100 mph and there was auto traffic and no gates! Woke up all of Bloomfield Hills, I bet. What happened to the short, polite night toots at empty crossings? I guess if I had to be working at that hour everyone may as well know it! And it woke me up so I could give this report of its passage.

The first ones on CN and the first ones of the new model and the first model of EMD/GMD's "third generation" of diesel electric locomotives. I remember the first time I saw one. Two were on a train passing through Komoka Junction in Ontario. Boy did they seem huge compared to their predecessors. It is good to see them still on the mainline 27 years later, pulling their weight.
