4620 sitting by itself on the Pontiac Station track
Seems like 4620 has been assigned to Pontiac for a long time.

Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up thread 2023
Sounds like 353 is stopped at New Buffalo or there abouts with mechanical issues and is ending there.
Sounds like 352 is helping another train east of Chicago and is running late.
Doesn't seem like Amtrak is cancelling any Wolverines in anticipation of the big storm tomorrow but bad start today with 353. Stay tuned.

The Wolverines only operate marginally into the ice storm risk. Everything south of 94 is supposed to just be rain.Manistique wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 6:06 pmSounds like 353 is stopped at New Buffalo or there abouts with mechanical issues and is ending there.

Train 351 was a bit late out of Pontiac this morning. Train 353 just went past MP 22.5 on the Holly about 50 minutes late. No weather here yet.

Train 351 passed my house on time this morning so no weather-related issues with it. A lot of ice here this morning.

Train 353 is listed as running an hour late on its trip to Chicago. I don't recall seeing it go by my house this morning so not sure if it was delayed leaving Pontiac or not.

Anyone who wants to see the Amtrak California F59PHi in Pontiac yard needs to read this, posted on the behalf of a Pontiac Yard engineer. DO NOT GO IN THE YARD. CN is having major problems with people going inside the yard and getting up close with the 2007, as a result, they’re hiding the engine. I’m personally not allowed to say where it is in the yard. CN police is no longer taking any excuses for getting close to 2007 and will start ticketing/fining people. You’ll have to wait until it leaves for Chicago.

Says the kid I saw laying his head down on the rails to “listen for a train” at the Opdyke Rd crossing. Strap that helmet on tight before bed, kid, cuz you need it.David Collins wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 12:39 pmAnyone who wants to see the Amtrak California F59PHi in Pontiac yard needs to read this, posted on the behalf of a Pontiac Yard engineer. Ok, I don't know what you're talking about, There's another railfan that goes to that crossing and gets WAY too close, so you're probably seeing him. I don't get any closer than about 10 feet, and don't forget, tripod location doesn't always equate to videographers location.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 7:36 pmSays the kid I saw laying his head down on the rails to “listen for a train” at the Opdyke Rd crossing. Sounds like CDTX 2007 is leaving tonight, not sure if it's for the last time or if it will be back. Get it if you can in case it leaves for good.

Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up thread 2023
I saw something interesting at the station in Pontiac this evening and was wondering if anyone knew why, but Amtrak ran not one but TWO engines from Pontiac yard to the station as lite power before 355 left, any reason why they did two at once when they normally do one?
