The listing does say GP-9s...not GP-9, implying there are more than one for sale, which is slightly confusing. Appreciate the info though!LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 8:05 pmSeems to be the only one listed right?
I think 1758 is staying with some “modifications” to it. I think 1751/1760 both going south of the border.

I emailed the website. They are all listed. All five.NS3322 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 12:10 amThe listing does say GP-9s...not GP-9, implying there are more than one for sale, which is slightly confusing. Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I agree it does seem confusing considering all pictures are of 1751. I think it would be better if they listed all of the locootives seperately, or indicated the unit numbers within the Ad, but its thier business so they can do it how they want to.NS3322 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 12:10 amThe listing does say GP-9s...not GP-9, implying there are more than one for sale, which is slightly confusing. Can't imagine there's much of a market for these units unless some tourist/museum line was looking for a unit with a specific heritage.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
Suppose all of the GP9s sell. JAIL has their two red and white EMDs, but what power is there in Adrian to take over the A&B line operations?

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
From what I have heard from railroaders, and what I have read in these pages and other RR publications--- these units may be old,and non- tech, but---that may be a selling point to certain RR that don't need/ want high-tech units. They are way easier to diagnose, and repair.

A source of mine told me that ALLEGEDLY (key word) they got those straight GP40's Lake State was selling, but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I asked in the Adrian and Blissfield railroad Facebook group but didnt get a response. I noticed on Google Maps there appears to be a new transload operation at Saginaw Yard now. Where the old yard offices were located, there looks like two propane tanks as well as a trio of tank car loading racks. The old RIP track that had the Conrail boxcar for many years looks like it has fresh ballast. What moved into that location and when?

ADBF GP9 1751 departed Jackson on 1/3/24. Reportedly this unit was sold to a gravel quarry in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I think this is a good job for old and tired 70 year plus old power. Stable location pulling what is likely a limited amount of traffic for a business that may have limited resources to maintain a locomotive meaning a higher tech unit would be unlikely to do well.

Charlotte Southern video of part of the dinner train being shoved to interchange with CN:

FYI as of 01/29/2024 - the City of Charlotte has added EXEMPT signs to all of the ADBF crossings in town. Unknown about the crossings out of town.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I heard ADBF has a couple new engines, a pair of SD40's. Can someone confirm that?

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
They’ve reached an agreement to purchase four GP40s from LSRC. 1162, 1164, 1171 and 1174

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
Why are they also buying the parts source unit? Was it part of the package deal, or are their issues with the other locomotives that require all the parts to be brought with the units in order to keep them operational / get them operational?LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:26 pmThey’ve reached an agreement to purchase four GP40s from LSRC. 1162, 1164, 1171 and 1174

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I take it that LSRC either does not need these units, or they are surplus, or. ????
Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I would guess it’s because ADBF doesn’t really have a good parts source for GP40s and now they have 4 of them.chapmaja wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:54 pmWhy are they also buying the parts source unit?
