Re: GLC Active locomotives
Thanks, does that mean then that the SD35s are GLC's heaviest locos? I had never considered that tidbit about the Alco bolsters either but I guess it makes sense given their design.
Re: GLC Active locomotives
Yes they are, the SD35s weigh in around 410,000Lbs and the SD40-2s weigh in around 360,000Lbs.
Re: GLC Active locomotives
Here is an update on what has been reported as active over the last few days.
382 Out of Owosso
383 Out of Owosso
385 Out of Owosso
391 Out of Owosso
393 Out of Owosso
396 Out of Cadillac
399 Out of Cadillac
Supposedly 329, plus two of the SD35's also were seen moving in Owosso, but this appears to have been a move around the shop area. This would still be a good sign as that means they are at least in moveable condition and hhopefully were being moved in order to be worked on.

Re: GLC Active locomotives
With how everything is going with these engines I wouldn't be surprised if this happens to them.
I can see the GP35 being pushed down to Yard jobs or small local trains (Cadillac-Mcbain, any trains north of Cadillac, Ashley to Middleton, etc), with how many times these engines have been on the sidelines due to there age, I wouldn't be surprised, or even being sold/gifted to SRI.
nothing will change with the GP38-2
as for the SD35 and SD40, they will possible be more frequent on the line, especially for trains south of Owosso. and if GLC or whoever owns the railroad in the next couple of years starts to buy more locomotives, most likely they would be more intresed in SD40's or even pull a Lake state Railway and buy SD70MAC, but then the railroad would have to buy more equipment to be able to maintain them.
