The SA Rail offices currently occupy the old dinner train depot. Not sure what the new dinner train operators are using for an office/depot now...

Correct - they found a third party to run the dinner trains and a caterer - might be the one and the same who knows - ADBF provides the train and crew only.NS3322 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 9:00 pmPer this comment:Erroneous Monk wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 8:49 pmInteresting, so the A&B has contracted out operations of the Dinner Train?

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
I don't recall the Charlotte elevator ever receiving more than 5 covered hoppers at a time. The runaround track adjacent to the elevator was put in very early in the CHS time and was never really used. I think they thought they could avoid a long shove move back to town using it but there was no place to run around the cars at the interchange with the dinner train in that only siding.AARR wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 12:55 pmThere is a passing siding on the other side of the elevator that looks like it can hold 20ish cars.
However, I’m told there’s no place to spot them at the interchange without separating them in several blocks.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 11:28 amIdk how that elevator could possibly handle unit trains. Also CN would not let CHS 3 access their tracks so there was no way to run around more than five cars.

Yes - they took the Y101 to CN this morning. Presuming that they will take L501 from Flint to Lansing and then R934 will deliver them to JAIL.AARR wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 6:32 pmGP40's departing Saginaw for last time. Video by dianasfreightersandtrains.

I remember the 1164 received it's Lake State-SBS duel emblems and paint in 2007 and the 1171 received the same treatment in 2009 although if you look close the stripes on there noses are different patterns.

No 2 LSRC locomotives were alike during that era.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
Man, LSRC got rid of these!!!! Now there are no more GP40s still in KCS/TFM gray on LSRC, correct? Now, these are likely replacing GP9s on JAIL! Man I haven't even photographed them yet! What is happening in Blissfield? How many GP9s are there? They haven't replaced those yet, but it will probably be soon! Glad the "Murder Mystery Dinner Train" has returned in Blissfield! Maybe they will keep dedicated GP9s for that operation! Does anyone here know more? How many GP9s are on both JAIL and Blissfield and what numbers?

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
The ADBF currently uses 2 GP9s and their SW9. The JAIL uses the SD40-2, GP40-2 and still has 1 GP9 that is somewhat serviceable. These new GP40s will replace all of the remaining GP9s. Once rebuilt and repainted, 2 will go to the ADBF and 2 will remain on the JAIL.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
SD80MAC, I plan to "Railfan" the ADBF and JAIL before the new replacements come in! I have seen some GP9s on ADBF a few times over the years, but not since 2013! How long do you suppose it will take for the rebuild/repaint? They will probably be Red/White, but those old colors on the GP9s would look great on them!SD80MAC wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 11:45 amThe ADBF currently uses 2 GP9s and their SW9. The new power arrived in Mason yesterday. With the 1760 & 1758 outside It appears the other new 40s are in the shop.

The only unit that comes close to the 1164 in paint and decal likeness was the 2003 when it was a GP38M for a short time before becoming a slug those two units shared identical nose stripes and also those units had larger duel emblems then the 1171, 1177, 2052 just something I noticed.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
Dan Cluley, which GP9 on JAIL is serviceable? SD80MAC lists one is "somewhat serviceable!!!!" Is the single GP9 there used often? If I go catch JAIL in the next few weeks─I would like to see a working GP9! I presume the two ADBF GP9s at Blissfield are #1751 and 1752! I first chased their "Murder Mystery Dinner Train" in April 1997 (27 YEARS AGO ) with my late Dad (RCJ I)! ADBF 1752 was in orange colors from when it was "Lionel Lines" scheme! Leading "Long Hood Forward" as both were on each end! That was my first time seeing ADBF! It would be fitting to see the same GP9s working!Dan Cluley wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 10:05 pm

Go to Adrian. Don’t bother going to Mason. Those ones will never run again.Robertrains wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 1:24 pmDan Cluley, which GP9 on JAIL is serviceable?
