grand rapids csx question
HI
I was at the wyoming yard last night. Around 11pm I saw a train heading out of the east end of the yard carrying scrap metal, DOW hoppers, and MQT boxcars. Its power was 3 csx units.. What train is this? Where is it going?
Also.. on bullsheet.com it lists z151 as Plaster Creek to Watson St. What is that all about? I thought z151 was the marquette rail baldwin train..
Any info is appreciated!

Yes, Z151 is the Marquette Road train to Baldwin and utilizes CSX rails between Wyoming yard (Plaster) and the north end of CSX operated track at Turner Street, where Marquette takes over duties as the line's operator.E wrote:HI

Nope, 334 usually leaves around that time. Q326 heads east from GR around noon, and Q327 comes in from the east in the evening.E wrote:Thanks for the info!!
Does that mean it is a combination of the 334 and 327? isnt it the Q326 that runs east? Is that a normal move? Does it always run that time of night? Does it do any work at Ensel? thanks

The part about Q334-27, or usually seen as Q33427, means it CSX train symbol Q334, running on the 27th of the month. Today's Q327 is called Q32727.E wrote:Does that mean it is a combination of the 334 and 327? -E

I'm not sure why bullsheet.com shows Z151 working Plaster to Watson, but as indicated elsewhere its called out of Baldwin MI around 2100 or 9pm. A hotshot run will put them in GR around Midnight or so. If they have southbound switching, then they may not reach GR until 5am. After yarding their inbound train the crew will yank their EOT device, and head into the Even yard to start assembling their outbound train, then get their manifest and head north. This process can take anywhere from 45 minutes to three hours. The train will occasionally be held northbound at Godfrey, to wait for Amtrak to go West past them if they depart the yard after 615am. Inbound, the train can wait at Turner Street for Y321 (the northside yard job and local) to finish up at Padnos Iron, and Havlin Products.
