Re: meet in durand - 05/09/09
Yeah, thanks to the somewhat chilly wind and rain I had to leave earlier than I wanted to. I guess that comes from not feeling on top of the world for a couple of weeks. My loss.
It was nice to plant a handshake on Mr. TSB, and having a beer with him and Pat C at The Iron Horse would have been great. Us old far*s have to get to know each other better and stick together. Today, though, it just wasn't in the cards. About noon, I began running out of gas, and crashed for a couple of hours when I got home.
Thanks to all who made the gathering possible and provided some good food. The pizza was good, and, as always, Mrs Simon's bakery provided tasty deserts.
Perhaps with a touch of luck Mr. TSB will hang around this summer and I will have a chance to get to know him better. For the rest, it was good to see you again. My single celled brain is hard pressed to remember some names, but I do remember faces. Another gathering, when the weather is better would be in order this summer.

Met some friends I had known before and a few new ones. I was sorry I
could only stay a short time. Grandson's hockey games trump our hobbies
at my age. Met some new "Old Farts" and some nice young people. Zack,
Conrail Jon, uncle rauel and especially traingirl. Some others that I am too
old to remember right now.
Got 2 brownies from Don and a beer from PAT. Success.

Re: meet in durand - 05/09/09
Thanks again to those that put a good effort into planning this meet, quite enjoyable. Slept a bunch last night, and took a nice long nap today too... well worth it though
Any idea just how many people came? I'm guessing 35+
Let's see if I can remember those from the board:
Mr Tops, railroadfan, Jeff L, BNSFBen, Train Buff, SW, ConrailMike, PlymouthStationGuy, Don Simon, ODave, Redside20 and his buddy, Brian F and his g/f Vicky, GP30M4216, Garry K, GLC 392, DR, GTW4633, JANGAJONGA, Trainnut85, Traingirl21, j32885, Hogger1225, Raildudes dad, TrainWatcher, Norm, Mark Rummel, SteveTJ, Pat C, TSB, and R.E.A.P.E.R(barely eheh). I heard astromanvann and UncleRaul were there, but I'm not sure who they were. Of course we had some family members of members here too.
Anyone I'm missing?

astromanvann was sitting under the canopy with a camera and tripod. With the crowd so large it's hard to get around to everyone. I'm not sure who Uncle Raul is

Re: meet in durand - 05/09/09
Uncle Raul walked-up to me and introduced himself. We had a short, pleasant
chat. He is a young (to me) thin (to a fat guy) guy. Seemed to expect to be
disliked. Not sure why, but he seemed OK to me.

I'd like to know who everyone is. I try to get around but it's difficult and I'm not always sure whose with the group and whose not. In the future, if you're there and with the group please introduce yourself, at least to me, I'd like to meet everyone...and Pat C will buy you a beer from the Iron Horse
