GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

Yes, this is a good thing. Don't really want to hurt anyone's feelings. Don't take my beastlieness seriously, but take my words seriously.

Coal trains run as needed, my friend. Literally, they run when they need more coal. They are not like freight trains that run on a "schedule". As obvoious as the answer is, that's all there is to it.

after spending about 4 hours in BC this past Sunday 6/14, I can report there was NO activity whatsoever on the CN excepting Amtrak 364, which apparently had the Flint sub to itself. Not even a road train at the fuel pad, nor any job working the yard.

some photos of BC Amtrak action from Sun. uploaded in this week's edition of Heartlandrails.com:

The streets of BC were devoid of any traffic, it was like I had the town to myself.

There is no need for Battle Creek after breakfast.

The houses don't even have addresses, they have cereal numbers.
5 years on college faculties

The schedule is probably about what I saw posted elsewhere to a similar question. The train will run about 15 minutes before you get there and about 15 minutes after you leave.

It is the railfan curse or blessing when you railfan alone the last train was right before u got there and the next one is right after u leave. Or when your railfanningin a group anew railfan will show up and the trains will stop running ( or some time start running) when the railfan leaves then trains will resume usedto happen in holland all the time.....
