Is anyone aware of the plans that GLC has for running trains over this Thanksgiving weekend?

If it's grain, they've been doing it for some time now.iKJames wrote:Is anyone aware of the plans that GLC has for running trains over this Thanksgiving weekend?

Anything else besides that, like regular freight on the line? (down to Osmer, up to Traverse City)

Re: GLC/AA/LSRC/HESR Heads Up November
It can, doesn't mean it will. Recently GLC Canned a few of their GP35s for newer units. If there is indeed a grain train, if there is enough they can put the freight on the rear of the train, but considering those grain trains can be from 75-100+ plus cars I doubt it. the shortest grain train I've seen was 63 cars, and the longest was 165.iKJames wrote:Anything else besides that, like regular freight on the line? I do not have any contact with GLC that could give me a certain answer. From my experience, I say that they will not run over the holiday weekend. Well maybe not. They might.iKJames wrote:Is anyone aware of the plans that GLC has for running trains over this Thanksgiving weekend?
I have rarely see any sign that GLC runs weekends north of MTP. At the same time, four days is a long time to let things sit. Deduction: They may run Friday to TVC/PET/or Yuma. If we knew what happened today (Wednesday) on the east end, we might have an idea what is going to happen on the west end.

During the day time. Probably departs Cadillac around 8-9am arriving in Traverse City late morning. It takes a few hours to run from Traverse City to Bates and if they wait while the lumber yard unloads their cars it will be another few hours before the go back.becauseisaidso15 wrote:What time of the day does GLC run up into Traverse City usually?

A few questions related to GLC.
1. Where is their main yard?
2. Can I catch something moving in their yard on Sunday?
3. Where can I catch something in movement on a Sunday?
Thanks

A few questions related to GLC.
1. Where is their main yard? Owosso is main but also Cadillac. They have a freight yard on east side of Owosso and engine terminal in downtown Owosso. Cadillac has two yards (west side and north side) and small engine shed (downtown).
2. Can I catch something moving in their yard on Sunday? Possible but unlikely
3. Where can I catch something in movement on a Sunday? If anything Owosso engine terminal

I caught a southbound HESR train in Durand at 1: 25pm. It looked like it might of been a long train, and had the two new yellow HESR engines and the New England Central engine leading.

Re: GLC/AA/LSRC/HESR Heads Up November
HESR 5086 was switching empty bethgons in Wenona yard in Bay City this morning as the 740 job, looks like the Dash 7 era isn't quite over on the HESR yet. No other power in the yard aside from dead/stored 5175, 999, 1471 and 8905, so not sure if 740 was going to keep using 5086 (some of the places they work sure dont look like 6 axle territory) or if they were going to taxi somewhere.
702 should be out of Saginaw and Durand bound at this point behind 2668 and 2661. 2014 and 3867 were also in the consist leaving Bay City but were likely set out in Genessee yard for the 800 job.
