I found it on Grand River Rd. in Farmington.Michael wrote:Pixl wrote: it probably won't take long to locate it. It is currently a winery and it does have an historical marker out front.
DUR Powerhouse at Farmington. Click here to see this building today, 100 years later. [Alan Loftis Collection]

These rails are not too far from Burb's imbeded rails we had last week, and I THINK they are interurban remnants.

Hard to believe but that is Jefferson Avenue very close to downtown http://goo.gl/maps/rbKt4Pixl wrote:These rails are not too far from Burb's imbeded rails we had last week, and I THINK they are interurban remnants.

If you follow those tracks you will see that they were used to service the many industries along there. Still lots of traces of the old iron horse around there.

Yes, A little East of here W. Jefferson is a decent road that turns into E. Jefferson. SW of here W. Jefferson is again a wide paved road that goes on for miles. Just this little stretch that barely passes for an alley.Michael wrote: Hard to believe but that is Jefferson Avenue very close to downtown http://goo.gl/maps/rbKt4

A quote from the "News-Herald" 2012:
Before the automobile, there was a proliferation of rail transit. Since 1892, there had been an electric railway, or “trolley” line, running along West Jefferson/Biddle Avenue from Detroit to Trenton
They may have delivered some local freight down these tracks after the interurban was gone.

Re: Where am I?
Iv'e looked at a few maps and they all show those tracks connecting to the FSUD tracks and unable to find an Interurban connection. Did I miss something ? Or are you hiding something .
Re: Where am I?
Not South Haven. It is somewhere in between Kzoo and Jackson.

Not hiding anything. Since the interurban went down W. Jefferson I figured these were the ones. Could be wrong. What is the FSUD?

Re: Where am I?
Well they definitely must be DUR tracks, where I'm not sure. Check out the tracks that divert to the left. I'd love to drive that road everyday.Michael wrote:Here is another spot near downtown Detroit

Re: Where am I?
Seems like that's either Fort Street or a block or two closer to the river, several blocks east of the RenCen. I think it's west of the Dequindre Cut. Came across it when I was looking for Burb's shot by the post office last week...Michael wrote:Here is another spot near downtown Detroit

Wight and Iron Streets in Detroit. It was built as the Michigan Central Detroit Manufacturers Railway in 1902.
The tracks here went along the riverfront from near Brush Street Station to Uniroyal Tire on East Jefferson. Service on this line ended in 1981 by Conrail.
