Re: Where Is It?
Where be it? I don't think they'll be using this crossing anytime soon, so the lights might be a bit much:

Yes, it's the Knape and Vogt Co. plant on Steel Case drive, east off Eastern Avenue in the southeast area of Eastern Avenue and 36th Avenue, SE. That track in foreground was the former MC RR, later NYC, later Penn Central and now Grand Elk RR the old Grand Rapids branch that ran between Grand Rapids and Jackson. All in Wyoming, south of Grand Rapids, Kent County. Final run of the remaining old NYCS RR p;assenger trains 388/389 the Beeliner, between GR and Jackson, was made on April 25, 1959.

Let's try an old depot. Where be it? Dirt path where the ROW is. Searched the thread for this city name, and no results. That'll be the hint

That's Columbiaville on the old New York Central System, later Penn Central RR looking southeast towards Lapeer, in Columbiaville, Lapeer County. The old Mackinaw branch ran between Detroit and Mackinaw City. The building on the right in the foreground is currently the U.S. Post Office. Flint River, not visible, is behind the photographer's current position. Final run of the remaining passenger trains on the old NYCS RR Mackinaw Branch between Detroit and Bay City with stops in Columbiaville, was made on March 19, 1964. It was train nos. 394/395 the Beeliner.

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

West Michigan...somewhere in a location a few miles from Lake Michigan...not as far south as South Haven, and not as far north as Grand Haven.
I was thinking Z would get this one right away, hence no location posted.

Ha, I see where it is. 53 4th St in Holland MI. There's even a Ryder truck that the business rented sitting out front. I hadn't driven around that area in quite a few years.J T wrote:West Michigan...somewhere in a location a few miles from Lake Michigan...not as far south as South Haven, and not as far north as Grand Haven.

Yes, it's the Cross Fitting at the NE corner of S. River and Fourth streets, Holland. That rail spur was off the connection with the Dock Track, which is off the connection with the CSXT/Amtrak Line Grand Rapids Sub just north of the Holland Amtrak depot, all in Holland, Ottawa County.
