Does anyone know when the new signals will be cut in? Also why is it taking so long, they have been up for quitevsome time.

Re: Marion Signals
It's the railroad, isn't CSX in charge of the change over?
Re: Marion Signals
Not that I'm aware of.TrainWatcher wrote:It's the railroad, isn't CSX in charge of the change over?
Signal cutovers can take long amounts of time anywhere. For example, the replacements at DA in Arcadia were up for several months before the bracket mast was removed from service and the new signals were cut in.

Yes CSX is responsible for the cutover.

Re: Marion Signals
I was told they were originally planned to be cut over way back in June.
Re: Marion Signals
Have NS replacement signals showed up on the scene? Perhaps CSX is waiting to do a cut over when the NS does theirs? Be easier to just shut everything down once for everyone to do a cut over than cut over the C&O, then a few months/year later do the same for the NS.

Re: Marion Signals
They are replacing all the signals for both the C&O and NS along with the westbound on the NYC. All are in place just waiting to be cut over.
Re: Marion Signals
So they're probably waiting for all sides to come into agreement on when to shut traffic down and do the cut over. I'd wager after the first of the year, after "Fall Peak" and the lake coal season stops. But that's just my guess.Huelsy'sTrainBlog wrote:They are replacing all the signals for both the C&O and NS along with the westbound on the NYC. All are in place just waiting to be cut over.

Very good observation! I never thought of it. Like I said they have been up since late last year early this year and I heard that originally they were slated to be cut over in June.

Re: Marion Signals
Any updates on the new signals?
Re: Marion Signals
a couple weeks ago I was in Marion and noticed the new nb NS signal bridge had the ladder get hit by something already! did not think it was picture worthy, just interesting it got damaged before going in service.
