Not photography but close.
I have several railroad themed VHS tapes and want to convert to DVD, has anyone here had any luck
doing so and what equipment did you use.
Thanks,
Kelly

Re: VHS to DVD conversion
I wired a DVD burner/player into my home theater set up. Original system had a DVR player but no burner. Ran the VHS player into that then just record and play are let it run. Depending on how old your VHS tapes are you might want to watch them once before you start. If you get to the end with no issues you will be fine. Rewind and then start recording on second play back. I did 15 VHS tapes of recorded train video in a few weeks. As I watched them I took notes so I could go back on the DVDs and pull off specfic scenes.KC wrote:Not photography but close.

Re: VHS to DVD conversion
DVD recorders had a brief heyday in the mid 2000s, and they can still be found on eBay. Any "name" brand like JVC, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony, or Samsung will do fine. Just take the RCA wires from your VCR and plug them into the inputs on the DVDR. Blank discs can still be found just about everywhere. Stick to the 1-hour or 2-hour recording speed if you're converting tapes.

Re: VHS to DVD conversion
You can get VCR to USB devices; using a decent video editor software, you can rip the VHS to a digital format where then you can burn it to DVD or keep it as a digital file. That's the process I used to rip the P42 overview video I have on my YouTube page. Although for that, I used my school's equipment.
Given the choice; I fly Amtrak.

I could do it but it would be a straight transfer from VHS to DVD no menu's or anything. But as suggested you can find a DVD recorders on Ebay but they might be a bit pricey.
