Palmetto Railways Overview

Palmetto Railways is a publicly-owned rail operator in the state of South Carolina. It operates the Hampton and Branchville Railroad along with the East Cooper and Berkeley Railroad. (Now known as Palmetto's Salkehatchie and Charity Church Subdivisions respectively.) The Salkehatchie Subdivision is presently out of service. Additionally, Palmetto Railways acts as a terminal switching provider for all of South Carolina Ports Authority rail-served marine terminals at the Port of Charleston under their Charleston and North Charleston Subdivisions.
