Waterloo Railroad Overview

The Waterloo Railroad was created by Jaguar Transport in 2024 to take over the lease of Union Pacific's Waterloo Industrial Lead from the Iowa Northern Railway. With the impending sale of IANR to Canadian National, UP broke the lease agreement with the Iowa-based railway so as to not give control of the trackage to its competitor. Extending northeast from Waterloo, the Waterloo Industrial Lead consists of 7 miles of former Chicago Great Western trackage servicing four customers.

WLR interchanges with Canadian National in Waterloo, IA and Dewar, IA.
