For anyone not sure what railroad this is LS&I. Thanks for the update BOHICA. I hear they're expecting record tonnage in 2010.

Why? New export contract, or increased domestic production?AARR wrote:For anyone not sure what railroad this is LS&I. Thanks for the update BOHICA. I hear they're expecting record tonnage in 2010.

I believe that the major reason is the U30C's and C30-7's are getting old and worn out. Why? New export contract, or increased domestic production?

I was actually asking about the reason behind the anticipation for record tonnage

Re: They have arrived and they are moving ore!
Although it's interesting to see the CEFX units on ore trains, I am more interested in the old GE power! Does anyone know if any of the old GE locos are in service up there? I am planning a visit to the Marquette area this summer and am hoping to catch them at least once before they are gone forever!
The regret I have is that I was on a trip with my Dad passing through Marquette in 1996 and we didn't know much about LS&I, so of course we didn't see anything!
Anyway, I am planning on visiting! Does anyone have a complete railfan guide for LS&I online that will help? I will keep checking online before I head up there! It still will be great to check out! Maybe there will be U30C deadlines which is better than nothing!

I believe some if not all the GE's will still be on the property, Robert.Robertrains wrote:Although it's interesting to see the CEFX units on ore trains, I am more interested in the old GE power!
