Guelph Junction Railway Overview
The Guelph Junction Railway Division operates 24 miles of track between Guelph and Campbellville, Ontario on behalf of the City of Guleph. The railroad is currently operated by Genesee & Wyoming's Goderich-Exeter Railway.
In December 1997, the Canadian Pacific Railway did not renew the lease with Guelph Junction Railway. Undeterred, the city decided it would continue Guelph Junction Railway as an independent railway and contracted with Ontario Southland Railway to provide the freight movement services, effective January 1, 1998.
After 22 years as the operator of the Guelph Junction Railway, Ontario Southland concluded operations of the branch on August 28, 2020. The new operating contract was assigned to Goderich-Exeter Railway.
GJR interchanges with CN at Campbellville.
